About:
Buffalo Creek is probably one of the State of Virginia’s best wild trout streams period. I have never been skunked on Buffalo Creek, but do not let that fool you. This is a very technical stream; if you do not find the one fly or nymph these fish are feeding on then it will be a very rough day. One day I went through several flies before finding out that the fish were hitting a size 22 purple zebra midge. From that point on it was game on. Please be mindful when you are on this stream; don’t litter, and take out what you bring in. Also don’t forget to get your landowner permit online before you fish this stream, no use of getting a ticket when the permit cost’s nothing.
Additional Notes: There are several parking areas throughout the stream, but if you do not see one where you want to fish, there are several pull off spaces. Make sure you get off the road completely, the road sees a lot of traffic.
